Jersey Friday raises $548 to give kids a sporting chance
Monthly Jersey Friday participation helps to register 4 children in the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Program.
Starting with the simple idea of wearing a jersey for a $2 donation on a monthly basis for the first Friday of every month transposed into a full-year commitment. By the end of this year, we reached $548.60 in fundraised amounts for the 2013 Canadian Tire Jumpstart Program. The main purpose of this national charitable organization is to help kids within the local community who can’t otherwise participate organized sport and recreational activities due to various barriers.
With the amount raised, there was enough to help register a total of 4 kids in hockey, basketball, swimming, as well as a dance program. The remaining amount was used to help purchase equipment for each activity.
Participating in enjoyable programs during our active work schedules, such as Jersey Friday, lets us give back to the local community in a way that may seem small to some, but in retrospect means providing a chance to enrich a child’s life.
